Did not think I would ever really be writing another post like this, but this news has hit me ...  

Whitney Houston. 

So sad, so tragic.  Another complete waste of talent. 

They may not have said what the cause of death is yet but I would say its a pretty safe bet it was drugs.  Whitney was one of my favorite artists from the time I was small.  1987.  She was the first tape (yeah I said it) that I ever bought with my own money.  I played I Wanna Dance With Somebody out.

As I grew older I loved her music more. 

Winter Ball 1994?  Rhodes on the Pawtuxet?  There on that dance floor Whitney's 'I Will Always Love You' was playing the first time Al kissed me. 

And in college, I played her My Love Is Your Love CD over and over as soon as I got it in my dorm room.  How I thought she was so strong and independent... only to later find out she was none of those things.  Favorite song from the album.


My heart is sad for her daughter.

While we may all have seen it coming sooner or later, I always rooted for Whitney to turn it around and make a comeback someday.  She had an amazing voice.  Its so sad chalking another one up to the book of the dead.
