BlogHer'12 is just one week away!
Next Thursday morning Jen and I will be driving to NYC for our very first blogging conference. Excited doesn't even begin to express how I feel about it.
Microsoft Windows is having a sweepstakes where 5 BlogHer attendees will be chosen to win a $1,500 style makeover by a celebrity stylist, receive a new PC and more. Al sent me the link to the contest weeks ago and urged me to enter. True to form, I left it to the last minute obsessing over just what to say and how to enter... pinterest board, vlog...blog post...
Well here I am, nominating myself and going with the blog post. I would love to be one of the 5 attendees chosen. Finally getting to go to BlogHer is amazing to me, part of a small dream come true. Six years ago I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I was a wife, a new mom... all things I wanted... but I felt like I did not have a direction career wise. In fact I felt like I didn't know who I was. Eighteen months after bring home our first son, we were again bringing home two more. Identical twins. I had three babies under the age of 2.
And while I loved being a mom I can't gloss over it and say it was easy. It was rough... and it took me a long time to find myself again.
Blogging helped me do that. It gave me a direction. It started three years ago on an anonymous blog. One of the twins was facing a possible major medical condition and I didn't know what else to do. I wrote for myself. It was my outlet. No one read it and no one knew I was writing it...but there I was day after day. When we got the great news that my son was in fact OK, I realized how much blogging had helped me. I wiped the entire blog clean and started over... as me. And I have spent the last 2 and a half years writing my butt off everywhere I can.
From my own small blog about my family, branching out making trips from RI to NYC for the day on writing assignments... making friends and connections along the way... to traveling across the country for work. Blogging has changed me - for the good - in ways that I can not begin to express. It helped me to find myself again. I now not only run two blogs, but am also starting my own social media company Corbo Media.
I am online so much that I tend to destroy laptops every 2 years...which is about how long I have had the current one. It would be amazing to get a new PC as well as a style makeover! I am still trying hard not to be Sweatpants Mommy of 3 and being obsessed with all things celebrity to begin with, I would love a makeover by a celebrity stylist! And if I do, I will blog/vlog it All!
Did you hear that? They are yelling 'Pick our Mommy!'
In writing this post, I’m entering the Microsoft Windows Style Makeover Sweepstakes for a chance to win a head to toe makeover!
I think you deserve it!!! I also can't wait to see you next week :)
